How I Work Out From Home (and Save a Lot of Money)

Gym memberships are expensive. Class packs are expensive. And suddenly, “working out” feels like a financial commitment instead of something that’s supposed to make you feel good. A few years ago, I started working out mostly from home, not because I’m super disciplined or sporty, but because it was cheaper, easier, and fit my real life better. No commute, no pressure. If you want to move your body, feel stronger, and save money at the same time, home workouts are honestly underrated. And YouTube is full of amazing (free!) content — you just need to know where to start. Here are the YouTube channels I keep coming back to, depending on my mood, energy level, and how much I want to think that day.

Yoga With Adriene

Best for: beginners, calm energy, learning yoga basics

Yoga With Adriene is where so many people (including me) first fall in love with yoga. Her videos are welcoming, non-intimidating, and perfect if you’re new, want to move gently, or want an exercise that also feels like meditating.

What I love:

  • She actually teaches you yoga, not just poses

  • Huge variety: calm, energising, short, long, beginner-friendly

  • Great for stress, bad days, sore bodies

  • You can choose between relaxing or surprisingly challenging flows

This is my go-to when I want to:

  • start my day by moving my body,

  • reset my mind,

  • stretch after sitting all day,

  • or do something good for myself without draining my energy.

Blogilates

Best for: Pilates basics, motivation, mixing workouts

Blogilates is pure energy. Cassey makes Pilates feel fun, approachable, and easy to fit into your day — even if you only have 10–15 minutes.

What I love:

  • Great Pilates foundations

  • Different challenges to keep things interesting

  • Easy to mix & match videos (abs + legs + arms, done)

  • Options of cardio or stretching

  • Can step it up with weights or resistance bands

  • Clear options for beginners and more advanced workouts

This is perfect if you like:

  • structure, but not strict plans,

  • workouts that burn but still feel doable,

  • feeling accomplished without needing equipment.

Move With Nicole

Best for: structured Pilates, challenging workouts, “no thinking” days

Move With Nicole is for the days when I want a proper workout but don’t want to plan anything. Her videos are very well-structured, flow smoothly, and are often more challenging.

What I love:

  • Feels like a full Pilates class

  • Offers yoga or stretching videos

  • Most workouts are challenging (in a good way)

  • Very calm, focused energy

  • Perfect when you just want to press play and follow along, very detailed video titles

  • Options to level up with weights or resistance bands

This is my choice when:

  • I don’t want to scroll endlessly,

  • I want something effective,

  • or I want to feel worked without going to the gym.

MadFit

Best for: gym-style workouts, strength, dance workouts

MadFit is amazing if yoga or Pilates isn’t your thing, or if you want variety. Her channel feels closer to a gym workout, but still doable at home.

What I love:

  • Bodyweight workouts, dumbbells, resistance bands

  • Clear, effective strength routines

  • Dance workouts that don’t feel like “real” workouts

  • Great for switching things up

This is ideal when:

  • you want a sweatier session,

  • you miss gym-style workouts,

  • or you want to move without thinking “ugh, I’m working out.”

Why home workouts actually work

For me, working out from home:

saves money,

removes excuses,

and makes consistency way easier.

Some days I do 10 minutes. Some days 40. Some days I choose yoga, others Pilates or dance. And that flexibility is exactly why I stick with it.

You don’t need a perfect routine, expensive equipment, or a gym membership to move your body. You just need something that fits your life — not the other way around.
